Former White House and Senior DOE Official Sean Plankey to Join DataRobot as Director of Cyber Missions
April 8, 2021 — Washington, DC — DataRobot, the leader in enterprise AI, has expanded its rapidly growing public sector practice, DataRobot Government Solutions, to include cybersecurity solutions. This expansion underscores DataRobot’s commitment to defense, intelligence, and healthcare work across the US government.
“Over the last year, DataRobot coordinated with federal government partners to build and test models that prove threat detection capability against attack vectors associated with the SolarWinds hack,” said Dennis Panos, Partner, AI Success for DataRobot Government Solutions. “This use case illuminated the significant opportunity for AI-enabled cybersecurity to create a more secure and resilient infrastructure across the government. As leaders in augmenting human intelligence, DataRobot is dedicated to utilizing AI to protect the US government and its citizens.”
DataRobot Cybersecurity Solutions leverages the company’s trusted enterprise AI platform to elevate cybersecurity protections as a holistic defense against evolving adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures. DataRobot’s approach integrates and correlates existing perimeter defense, endpoint protection, and threat intelligence feeds to facilitate faster identification, detection, prevention, and response to threats against critical networks.
Government and cybersecurity veteran Sean Plankey will join the company to lead development and integration of the company’s trusted AI technology into cybersecurity solutions for the government and commercial sectors.
Before joining DataRobot, Plankey served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). In this role, he led DOE’s efforts to secure US energy infrastructure from cyber and physical hazards and was responsible for overseeing DOE’s investments in critical cybersecurity research to modernize and protect the energy grid. Plankey’s extensive cybersecurity background includes time at the White House as Director for Maritime Cyber Policy on the National Security Council, where he is known for his invaluable work on the National Maritime Cybersecurity Plan. He was also a cybersecurity executive at BP plc and a US Coast Guard veteran.
